Xabi Alonso Confirms Nicolas Jackson Remains Part of Chelsea’s Plans for 2026/27 Season
New Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has confirmed that Nicolas Jackson remains an important part of his squad as the Blues prepare for the 2026/27 Premier League season.
The Senegalese striker has been handed a fresh opportunity to prove himself after returning from his loan spell at Bayern Munich.
Jackson, 25, recently wrapped up his international duties with Senegal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. The Lions of Teranga exited the tournament after a dramatic 3-2 extra-time defeat to Belgium in the Round of 32 on July 1.
With international football behind him, the forward is now fully focused on earning a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s pre-season preparations, Alonso confirmed that Jackson is part of the club’s plans and will travel with the team for their pre-season tour of Asia. The Spanish coach is expected to assess the striker alongside fellow attacking options João Pedro, Emanuel Emegha, and Liam Delap as he builds his squad for the new campaign.
Alonso’s arrival could mark a turning point in Jackson’s Chelsea career. Unlike some players facing uncertain futures, the new manager has made it clear that the Senegal international will be given a fair chance to impress
